Bowlers

Now I usually don’t get angry at people who drink too much, as long as they aren’t bothering me when they do.  This past Friday night we had an individual who had been drinking at the Elks and then decided that he was still going to come and bowl on league for the first time this season.

Well, long story short, he made it through the first 2 games but was unable to continue in the 3rd game.  He had to quit because he couldn’t stand up anymore.  Now this not only affects him, but the team he was bowling, myself as I am the league secretary/treasurer, and his own teammates.

This is what really gets to me.  He is usually not a nice guy anyway, but to have this happen really gets to me.

It was nice for my bowling team to reverse its downward trend this past Friday night.  It was only a short 4 weeks ago that we were sitting in 1st place.  Within a 3 week span, we had dropped to 6th place.  This past Friday night we bowled the 2nd place team and took 18 out of 28 points from them.  It is just so nice to finally stop our free fall.  I lost 3 out of 4 points to the guy I was lined up against, but my 503 series was better than it had been lately as well.  I had a 161 average to start the night and bowled a 162, 166, & 175 for that 503 series.  I know the scores aren’t that great, but I would rather do bad and have our team do well, than to have the greatest night of my bowling life and we end up losing 24 out of 28.  It seems that in the past when I have done well, the team didn’t and when I didn’t do that well, the team did.  Go Figure……

My name is Al and my coworkers call me a Sports Fanatic.  Also, I am the League Secretary/Treasurer for the Friday Night Alaska Bowling League at Arctic Bowl in Fairbanks Alaska.  If anyone out there is interested in bringing a team into the league, we are 1 team short and need to bring in another team ASAP.  If you are interested, please call Arctic Bowl to let them know.  Thanks.
